Holyrood is back in Business after the Summer Recess. Hot Topic!
Holyrood is back in business as MSPs return for the new session. We covered two Hot Topics to emerge in the first two days: A vote in support of a boycott of Israel. And the First Minster’s speech on Your Right to Decide.
Israel Boycott
Wednesday saw the Scottish Parliament’s very welcome decision to stop giving public money to companies helping to arm Israel in the commission of a genocide. It was passed by SNP, Green and Independent MSPs. Tories voted against – no surprise there – but so did the LibDems. And Labour abstained – did they no get their instructions up in time from Mr Starmer? Shame on Labour and LibDems.
Your Right to Decide
On Thursday, First Minister John Swinney began his day with a speech outlining “Your Right to Decide” campaigning on democracy, self-determination and exiting from the Union. This was followed by the first FMQs of the new term. The image has quotes from FM’s speech:

Our thoughts on all this…
We take a look at some of the stand out moments from these events in this extra Hot Topic episode.
