Over Hallow’een, Fiona bravely went on a tour of Spooky Stirling. Don’t worry she got home safely.
She saw the beheading stone… it has marks that look like they were made by a large axe. And there’s a channel so that the blood can drain off. That’s up on Mote Hill on the north end of the Gowanhills, just outside Stirling.
And Mar’s Wark is reputably a scary haunted place… John Erskine, Earl of Mar, was the keeper of Stirling Castle when he began construction of his magnificent townhouse Mar’s Wark in the 1560s or 1570s. King James VI stayed here, and the house was repaired for use as a barracks during the 1715 Jacobite Rising.
