Dr Tim Rideout. Road to a Scottish Currency. Scottish Currency Group.

Dr Tim Rideout gave this talk – The Road to a Scottish Currency – at the Scottish Currency Group Conference a couple of months ago.

The Conference brought together speakers from Scotland, France, England, Faeroes, and Iceland. They spoke about surviving banking crashes; the pros and cons of having your own currency compared to using another country’s currency; stock exchanges and how best to run them, financial regulations, currency options for an independent Wales, and much more. We’ll be bringing you highlights from the conference very soon.

But we so appreciated Tim Rideout’s talk that we’ve made this standalone podcast so you can listen to it all. You can find more information here. This is a link to a Q&A Document on the Road to a Scottish Currency.

We have talked to Tim a few times along with Ian Stewart, another member of the Scottish Currency Group.
  • they gave us their responses to the Scottish Government’s paper on the economy of an independent Scotland. A Scottish Economy fit for Independence?
  • and a few weeks before the Conference they came into our studio to talk about their plans, what they wanted from the conference. But being Ian and Tim the conversation ranged further afield. Have a look here.
