We chat to Tim Rideout and Ian Stewart about the Scottish Currency Group Conference coming up on 21st and 22nd September and their exciting line up of guest speakers.

And our chat covered a lot of other ground:
- Would a Scottish Pound have floundered during the Covid pandemic? What if we were independent but we’d been using Sterling when Covid struck?
- Estonia was well prepared and ready to go for its independence. The message from Estonians to us is do the same, prepare, and when the chance comes grasp it. Don’t hum and haw!
- Do they have any interaction with ScotGov Ministers? or with SNP generally? Answer: No, well not much, and nothing very effective.
- Have they thought of setting up public meetings around Scotland? In person meetings, reaching out, like the Town Hall meetings in USA.
And just so you know, the Welsh currency option research was paid for by the Welsh Senedd from public funds. Probably it was one of the initiatives that came from the Labour / Plaid Cymru cooperation pact of a few years back. But you can probably imagine the rumpus there would have been from Unionists in Scotlandand Westminster if ScotGov had commissioned that sort of research.
