Robert the Bruce was indeed a man with a plan.

Robert the Bruce was a man whose plans for every eventuality were so thorough they even included his own escape from Hell! In this episode, we draw from three accounts of the Bruce’s most famous battle. And “Scots Wha Hae” gets a mention too.

1308 – Robert the Bruce had a plan at Loudoun Hill

The plans for Bannockburn owed a lot to Bruce’s earlier experiences at Loudon Hill where he defeated a much larger English army by forcing the English into a small space bounded by a bog where their cavalry could not operate effectively. A year ago we brought out a podcast all about that battle. You can listen here to the audio podcast. And there is a video version too.
