Edinburgh Day of Protest : 6 September 2025
Yesterday saw a series of protests over in the capital. Against Rosebank oilfield development. In support of Palestine. And the AUOB Rally for Scottish independence.
We Woz Therr! Well Fiona was there, with support from James one of our tech advisors. They even got over early enough to have breakfast in Scran. Meanwhile I was at home…. catching up with sending out mailshots, writing blog posts, posting on Tiktik, etc. And we thought we’d retired.
First, the Silent Vigil in Support of Palestine
There was a silent protest and a march against the genocide in Palestine. This included people brave enough to wear t-shirts with the words Palestine Action on them. Rows of silent protesters sat holding placards saying “I Oppose Genocide, I Support Palestine Action.”

Scottish Parliament voted this week to boycott Israel
At least we live in a country whose Parliament has just banned public money going to companies supplying Israel’s war efforts. MSPs votes to impose a package of boycotts, divestment and sanctions targeted at the state of Israel and at companies complicit in its military operations and its occupation of Palestine. That was passed by 62 votes to 31, with 21 abstentions. (Scottish Tories and LibDems voted against and Labour abstained. Shame on both Labour and LibDems!) Rosebank Oilfield Protest
There was also a protest against opening up the Rosebank Oilfield. That took place outside Colonial House, otherwise know as Queen Elizabeth House, the UK Government in Scotland. Fiona caught some of that protest too.

Love that placard with its new versions of oil company names. Brilliant! Here is Fiona’s video of the demo:
And then came the AUOB Rally!
And Fiona’s wee gem..
Here’s a wee gem of a moment from Fiona’s footage of the march arriving at Holyrood. Well done this man, whoever you are!
